In concept and design this is an excellent tripod that checks every box. Really is the Goldilocks of hunting tripods with a good low weight but still enough height that it can be used in any situation. Unfortunately for a close to 400 dollar tripod it falls short in one main area. The build quality is not there. The leg screws cannot hold tension properly. As a result they won’t rest where they are left but rather just dangle loosely. This becomes a problem when dealing with having legs at different angles (ie one at position 3 and the others at position 2 and 1) where you have to try and hold a weird balancing act. I’ll combine this review with the matching lightweight head where the same issue applies. The screw used to tighten the arca rail to my bino clamp was bent horribly just from bouncing in my bag on the drive up the mountain. As a result I was unable to to easily take my optics on or off the head and had to essentially just forcibly jam them in the head loosely. Again would LOVE this set up if the build quality was there but it’s just not and I can’t in good conscience classify it as durable gear that will withstand abuse in the backcountry.
Why not have one? With the small size and light weight it makes sense to have along anytime you’ve got your tripod with ya. It’s gonna be waaaaay better than letting someone use your shoulder to take that shot
