Wyoming Antelope with a 30-06: A Tricer Hunt Film Worth Watching Twice
|BY TRICER
Wyoming's open sage flats are some of the most honest hunting ground in the West. There's nowhere to hide from the animals, and there's nowhere for your shot to hide either. You either have the setup or you don't.
This Tricer Hunt Film follows a Wyoming antelope hunt with a classic 30-06 and a trophy buck that doesn't give you anything easy. It's the kind of hunt that makes you understand why open-country hunters obsess over stable shooting platforms.
Pronghorn Hunting in Wyoming
Wyoming holds the largest pronghorn population in North America, and antelope tags are among the most accessible big-game opportunities in the West for nonresidents. The challenge isn't finding animals — they're visible from miles away on open terrain. The challenge is closing distance in a landscape with zero cover, and then executing a clean shot on a game animal with exceptional eyesight and a low tolerance for anything that looks wrong.
Shot distances on Wyoming antelope are real. You might get a chip shot at 80 yards, or you might be working a buck that won't let you inside 350. Either way, a steady rest is the difference between punching your tag and watching a buck disappear over a ridge.
The 30-06 and What It Means
There's something worth noting about choosing a 30-06 for this hunt. In an era of magnum cartridges and precision rifle setups, a classic 30-06 on Wyoming antelope is a deliberate choice. It's a statement that the fundamentals — good glass, a steady rest, a clean trigger break — matter more than ballistic overkill at realistic hunting distances.
The tripod in this film is part of that same philosophy: proven design, practical function, nothing unnecessary. Tricer's hunting tripods are built to be a tool, not a trophy.
Build Your Open-Country System
Open-country western hunting rewards hunters who invest in their shooting platform. Whether it's antelope in Wyoming, mule deer in Utah, or elk in Montana, the shots come when they come. Your job is to be ready for them.
I have to say this is probably one of the nicest tripods on the market I love the mat carbon fiber octagon legs it’s very stable I love how you can lock the legs and the little push buttons to angle the legs are so easy to use and that silver DH ball head is the cherry on top I love the look of the silver this is a GUCCI TRIPOD it’s worth every penny you won’t be disappointed with the product but you guys should say it comes with the carrying bag because I ordered one thinking it didn’t come with it o well it’ll work well with my other tripod so the match lol thanks tricer I’ll definitely be back for more! Keep making kick ass products!! ✊🏼
Just received my new tripod. I haven’t had a chance to take it out yet and run it but based on the construction and how it operates this seems like it’s going to be an awesome tripod.
