This is 100% worth the investment. I have been looking for a tripod/video head combination for filming backcountry hunts for years, and this has always been on my radar, but I thought I could get by with cheaper options. Was never fully happy, so I pulled the trigger on the Tricer AD with BP head. Things I am really happy with:
The leg height is perfect. I wanted a tripod that had a large enough footprint, without adjusting leg height or span, so that I could deploy it very fast when we need to drop packs and get a long shot on an animal.
Height adjustments do have a leraning curve with the reverse spin one the tension, but having the adjustments at the top of the leg, instead of the bottom like every other tripod, mean that I can get to full height fast and I can reset the tripod and have it in my bag in no time at all.
The BP head is amazing in my opinion. It handles a Sony A7IV with a 100-400 very well. The oversized knobs to adjust pan/tilt are probably my favorite design decision. Alot of cheaper tripods will have really small adjustment knobs that I can only use the tips of my fingers on. The BP knobs are huge and make it fast and easy to lock the camera down.
The BP head also has an extendable handle, and that is really helpful for quick deployment. Alot of times those longer handles will get in the way when you are trying to spread out the tripod. With the handle fully retracted, its snug to the tripod and packs away nice on the side of the pack.
Overall, this tripod and head are very well thought out and designed specifically for the backcountry. The customer service was great when I had questions on tripod selection and shipping times. 10/10 would recommend, one of the pieces to my filming kit that I am most proud of right now.
